Free IP and network scanner
Getting information about a computer on a Local Area Network (LAN) and managing the remote workstations are not that easy to do. Usually, this job is for a specialist to do. However, with networking programs such as Advanced IP Scanner, details like your IP address will be easy to get, even for a novice user. Created by Famatech, it is a reliable network scanner that you can use to analyze LAN. It shows you all the network devices connected, provides you with access to a shared folder and even gives remote control of computers. It is a free and easy-to-use app that can also run as a portable edition.
Advanced IP Scanner installs fast, allowing you to get acquainted with its user interface quickly. If you are a novice user, you won't need a long time to learn the basics of the app. The app comes with a simple and clean look dominated by a large green Scan button and the main window tabbed for Results and Favorites.
The app works similarly to a point-and-shoot camera in a way that it can find PCs and show you their available resources with a push of a button. You can access your router's log-on data. The toolbar also holds the subnet and class C scanner button, which allows users to focus their scans.
To help users understand the app more, Advanced IP Scanner provides web-based help resources. These resources include a three-minute video tutorial and a manual with a screenshot.
Get information and manage PCs remotely
Clicking the scan button with scan your LAN and return results as it detects each machine connected to your network. It will identify first the wired, then the wireless connections. The results tab will show you the status, name, IP, manufacturer, and mac address of each computer connected, with multiple users shown in subfolders.
Advanced IP Scanner has an improved scanning engine, which gives greater speed and accuracy. Aside from viewing the IP addresses for free, you can also save the list as HTML or CSV files. The user interface language has also added new languages--Thai, Turkish, Danish, and Portuguese—to the options.
Furthermore, Advanced IP Scanner also comes with a decent set of functions designed to help you manage the PCs connected in your network remotely. These include sending Wake On-LAN or shut down commands to the computer.
The software also comes with support for HTTP, HTTPS, and FTP protocols. It can also scan for NETBIOS names and groups. The information—and the usage of remote commands—are, unfortunately, limited to machines running on Windows OS.
Advanced IP Scanner also offers an extra feature from the Operations menu. However, you need to install Radmin for you to use these features. This extends the capabilities of the app and provides you with options like file transfer and chat.
Sniff out your LAN
With user-friendly GUI and dedicated functions that help you manage your network, Advanced IP Scanner earns a high spot on the network tool list. It is not a complicated tool to use and even offers users control over their machines on the network. Sure, functions are missing, such as a search tool. But, overall, it is a handy application that is worth installing.
